It is weighted to prevent falls and has a black matte finish. It will work beautifully with either the Glass Platter measuring 12" square or the Glass Plate measuring 8" square. The lighted stand measures 8" long and 6" wide. The opening to hold a plate or any object you would like displayed is 1" wide.
