These are the Half California King (36" x 84" x 2" or 91cm x 213cm) version of the traditional Tatami, used as flooring for centuries in Tea houses and Zen Rooms to create an aromatic soft, inviting and relaxing environment. These fit perfectly as a base for your favorite Tatami or Zen Platform bed frame. These Tatami are made according to traditional Japanese specifications. HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR TATAMI Tatami are greenish when new, and over time, will dry to become a tan color. Keep Tatami dry to avoid possible mildew from excessive humidity. Avoid wet cleaners. It is recommended to remove Tatami periodically and sun dry for an afternoon. If your area is damp, we recommend a de-humidifier to protect your Tatami. You can freshen and protect them with a light dusting of cornstarch from time to time. Similar to a mattress, it is good to rotate Tatami mats to avoid wear from high traffic areas. Vacuum Tatami along grain for general cleaning. We do not recommend walking on Tatami while wearing shoes. We are confident that you will appreciate the beauty and style Tatami offer, and with proper care, your Tatami should last for many years to come. | |
