One for the senses, this tatami mat is made with natural products and is finished in a subtle blend of rich earthy colors of gold, yellow and brown. The traditional Tatami mat is carefully crafted by weaving a Japanese Rush Grass double layer top, and baking the dried rice straw fill at high temperatures. They are then sewn together with a black fabric border, bound and by organic twine. Our Tatami have a moisture resistant barrier at the foundation. Our manufacturer has won an award of excellence for sustainably harvested materials. Your natural Tatami will bring beauty to your home for years to come. This Style Tatami Mat is also available in the half mat size 35 1/2" x 35 1/2".
These are the traditional Tatami, used as flooring for centuries in Tea houses and Zen Rooms to create a soft, inviting and relaxing environment. These act as a stand-alone flooring, and can be placed on any level surface.
