Tetsubin Cast Iron Teapot

Tetsubin cast iron teapot. Tetsu means "iron" and "bin" translates to pot or vessel. This Hob Nail Design is masterfully produced by Iwachu in Japan using traditional techniques dating back to the 17th century. Iron water kettles were originally used to maintain warmth in the home. During the 19th century as infused tea drinking became more popular, tetsubin evolved from being a kitchen item to being a status symbol used to serve tea. Our Tetsubins are handcrafted from cast iron and sealed with porcelain enamel to prevent rusting. Teapot comes with a removable steel mesh infuser. Measures 5 1/2" inches wide and over 4" tall.

Suggestions of how to care for your Tetsubin: -Use the tetsubin to brew tea, not as a stove top kettle. -Don not leave tea standing in the tetsubin for long periods of time. -Do not scrub the tetsubin with abrasive pads or use harsh detergents. -Simply rinse with water and wipe dry after each use. -Your tetsubin will provide many years of enjoyment.
