The Longmen Grottos are one of the three most famous ancient sculptural sites in China dating from the end of the 5th century to the mid 8th century and are located on either side of the Yi river. More than 100,000 carvings ranging from 1" to more than 57' in height were created when Emperor Xianwen moved the Northern Wei capital to Luoyang in 493.
This wall sculpture depicts the main grotto and offers exceptional detail. Cast from resin using bronze powder to give it a lustrous metallic finish and then hand painted to provide added detail. It measures 21" in height and 11 1/4" in width and is ready to hang.
