Japanese Obi

What is an Obi?

In Japan, obi is translated as "sash". The Obi has been an integral component of traditional Japanese dress since the 17th century. An obi is worn over a kimono or yukata. While some use these belts to simply keep their robes closed, others wear them as a fashion accessory, especially for formal ceremonies or events.

Whether it's worn formally or for everyday occasions, the vibrant colors will create the perfect matching or contrasting addition to your favorite kimono or yukata.

Available in your choice of: Black, Pink, Royal Blue, White, Navy Blue or Red.

These obi measure 110 inches long (9' 2") and 4" wide. Made in Japan of polyester fabric.

For the health and safety of our customers, we are unable to accept returns or exchanges.

Great accessory 05/05/2019

I know the yukata comes with a matching belt, but occasionally I want to add a splash of color and definition. The obi I purchased was perfect. Slightly off color and really stands out. I feel like a princess or should I say Geisha? :O)
