Shakyamuni Reclining Buddha StatueBuddha translates as "the awakened one" and symbolizes peace and serenity on the path to enlightenment. Buddha is depicted in many different postures, each representing a different message of spirituality. The historical reclining buddha is known as Shakyamuni, offering unconditional love and universal peace. The reclining position represents the moment of entering Nirvana, the state of enlightenment where Buddha invoked the earth as witness as indicated by the fingers of his right hand that spread downward in the bhumisparsha mudra.
When Nirvana is achieved, Buddhist teachings say a person will not experience the cycle of life, death and rebirth again, but is set free from the confines of earthly destiny and misery.
This exceptionally detailed Reclining Buddha Statue is cast from resin using bronze powder to give it a metallic finish. The statue is then hand painted to add the fine details. It measures 12 1/4" in length and 4 1/2" in height.
