Natural, Japanese style hand-woven double layer Japanese Rush Grass Flooring with cotton black fabric border. Our Traditional Tatami are expertly made with four layers of firm, durable insulation board, made from a natural, cellulose tree fiber composite that is both soft and firm.

These are the traditional Tatami, used as flooring for centuries in Tea houses and Zen Rooms to create a soft, inviting and relaxing environment. These act as a stand-alone flooring, and can be placed on any level surface. (Tatami have to be custom truck shipped-email for a quote)

FIBER FILL TATAMI- These Traditional Tatami are skillfully made with durable cellulose based natural tree fiber. To create a custom room, fill with finished wooden slats if there are open areas. Cutting is not recommended.
HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR TATAMI Tatami are greenish when new, and over time, will dry to become a tan color. Please remember to keep Tatami dry to avoid possible mildew of grass from humidity. Please avoid wet cleaners. It is recommended to remove Tatami quarterly and let them sun dry for an afternoon. If your area is humid, a de-humidifier is recommended to protect your Tatami, and avoid possible mildew. You can freshen and protect them with a light dusting of cornstarch from time to time. Rotate mats regularly to avoid wear from highly trafficked areas. Vacuum Tatami along grain for general cleaning. Walking on mats with shoes is not recommended. We are confident that you will appreciate the warmth and beauty tatami provide. With proper care, your Tatami should last for many years to come.
